Leap Quarterly: How to choose the best recruiting partner for your institution💡
Latest industry news and insights from Leap, the world’s leading end-to-end study abroad platform.
Hello and welcome to another edition of Leap Quarterly!
During the last few months we had the pleasure of interacting with many of you at industry events across the world. The 75th NAFSA Annual Conference and the AIRC Spring Symposium, both held in June in Washington, D.C. were definitely highlights of the summer.
Our NAFSA booth saw a constant flow of enthusiastic visitors and the Spring Symposium provided valuable opportunity to take a deep dive into the latest standards in International Enrollment Management.
And to top it all off, Leap’s party was a blast! It was so much fun connecting with friends and colleagues alike at our Bollywood-themed festivities.
In this edition we have some exciting developments to share.
Most importantly, I’m thrilled to introduce Dawn Wooten, our new Partner Success Manager. Dawn will be meeting partners through virtual introductions and at upcoming conferences and events throughout the remainder of the year. If you want to connect with her in the meantime, she can be reached at dawn.wooten@leapfinance.com.
There’s a lot more in this edition below, including latest industry news and insights and a recap of recent industry events. We’ve also included a list of upcoming events where you can meet us over the coming months. See you soon!
Best,
Simona Campbell
VP, University Relations

Choose the best recruiting partner for your institution
In AIRC’s latest State of The International Student Recruitment and Enrollment Field Survey, 62% of the 195 U.S. university respondents reported working with agents or a recruitment partner – a 13% increase from 2021 - and 98% of the institutions that do not partner with recruitment agencies are considering it.
So, what exactly should institutions look for when vetting an agent or recruitment partner? To know more, click here.

LEAP at global industry events
We recently participated as a proud headline sponsor of The PIE Live Australia at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It was an exciting opportunity to meet and collaborate with universities and service providers across Australia, New Zealand, and the greater ASEAN region.

Simona Campbell, Leap’s VP University Relations, was a panelist on the session “The Student Mindset: Do we need to be more dynamic?”, sharing the stage with Angela Lehmann (Head of Research, The Lygon Group), Haley Shields (Partner, Edified), Mohit Trivedi (Education Manager - Student Engagement, Study Gold Coast), and Helen Packer (Senior Reporter and Digital Strategist, The PIE).
The panel discussed topics such as mental health, desired modes of learning and in-country support and community, and increasingly global competition for students.
Zuhaib Khan, Leap’s VP International Expansion, moderated a breakout session with Charlotte Long (Head, Student Success - UNSW) and Dino Willox (Director, Student Employability - The University of Queensland) on driving international Student success in Australia.

The panelists discussed areas where students easily succeed, where they struggle, and ideas for helping to ease the transition and support students in their new country.
Importantly, the session also reinforced that the student journey is not bifurcated between the agents tending to recruitment and universities taking responsibility post-enrollment.
Rather, the student journey must be viewed holistically and as a full cycle, where agents and universities must work in partnership to set proper expectations, help prepare students for what to come, and successfully support them once they arrive.
APAC study-abroad news digest
Indian IELTS test takers applying through Canada's Student Direct Stream (SDS) for study permits are no longer required to attain a minimum score of 6.0 bands in each individual section. A cumulative band score of 6.0 is now sufficient for IELTS.
That’s all for this edition of Leap Quarterly. Stay tuned for more such interesting study-abroad industry updates in the next edition. Until then…
